Anyone who has considered going back to school online eventually faces a moment that rarely gets talked about.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the moment right before the step forward, or what my husband calls the line in the sand.<\/p>\n

Not the moment of excitement.
\nNot the moment when everything feels clear.<\/p>\n

But the moment when doubt becomes loud. For me, that moment came when I considered going back and accepting the invitation to join online students at Grace Christian University.<\/p>\n

Going back to learning.
\nGoing back to stretching myself.
\nGoing back to something that felt both right and terrifying at the same time.<\/p>\n

And I almost talked myself out of it.<\/p>\n

Not because the opportunity wasn\u2019t real. Not because the calling wasn\u2019t there. But because the questions began to pile up.<\/p>\n

What if I\u2019m too late?
\nWhat if I can\u2019t balance everything?
\nWhat if I\u2019m not capable anymore?<\/p>\n

Sometimes the greatest barrier between us and growth is not ability. It\u2019s the quiet voice of hesitation that convinces us that staying where we are is safer than becoming who we are meant to be.<\/p>\n

Thankfully for me, the academic advisors were another voice of encouragement and reassurance.<\/p>\n

The Honest Tension of Growth<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Growth rarely arrives with certainty. More often, it arrives with tension.<\/p>\n

You may feel the pull to grow while also feeling deeply aware of everything you carry: responsibilities, family, work, expectations, and the quiet fear of failing in front of others.<\/p>\n

I remember sitting with those thoughts and wondering if I should simply stay where I was comfortable. It would have been easier, and I would have saved myself and others the disappointment when I failed again.<\/p>\n

But comfort is not always confirmation.<\/p>\n

Sometimes comfort simply means we have stopped stretching. Grace made the stretching bearable with flexible schedules, attentive staff, and supportive measures in place to ensure smooth transitions.<\/p>\n

The Conversation We Have With Ourselves<\/strong><\/h2>\n

One of my professors said something profound in this time of my life: \u201cSometimes the most convincing voice of doubt often sounds like our own.” He was so right because it tends to whisper practical reasons that feel responsible and logical. We have to stop over-spiritualizing some of these things because a lot of the time the devil didn’t make us do it; we did it to ourselves.<\/p>\n

This season is too busy.
\nOther people need me more.
\nMaybe I should wait another year.<\/p>\n

But waiting can quietly become avoidance. And avoidance can slowly turn into regret. I regret not going back sooner now that I am here!<\/p>\n

Proverbs 16:9 (ESV) reminds us:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sometimes the step forward does not come with full clarity.<\/p>\n

It comes with willingness.<\/p>\n

When Faith Becomes a Decision<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"Tanika<\/p>\n

There comes a point where growth stops being theoretical. Where we have to make a decision.<\/p>\n

A decision to try.
\nA decision to learn.
\nA decision to trust that God would not awaken the desire to grow if He did not also intend to guide the process.<\/p>\n

Joshua 1:9 (ESV) says the following:<\/p>\n

\u201cBe strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Courage does not mean fear disappears. It means fear is not given the final word. Why else would God repeat \u201cdo not be afraid\u201d so many times in scripture?<\/p>\n

If You Are Standing in That Moment<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Maybe you are in that moment right now. The moment where you feel pulled toward growth but are also aware of every possible reason to step back.<\/p>\n

If that\u2019s you, I want you to know something:<\/p>\n

You are not alone in that tension.<\/p>\n

Most people who grow into new seasons have stood exactly where you are standing now. I remember when it came time to choose to continue on to my master’s program or call it quits after the completion of my bachelor’s. This step felt less dramatic than I thought it would. It was quiet after being guided into clarity by my professor and academic coach!<\/p>\n

It does not always have to feel dramatic.<\/p>\n

It can be quiet.<\/p>\n

A form submitted.
\nA conversation started.
\nA decision made in prayer.<\/p>\n

Growth often begins with a single act of obedience.<\/p>\n

The Step That Changes the Story<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Looking back, I realize something important.<\/p>\n

The moment I almost quit was also the moment I was closest to stepping into something new.<\/p>\n

And that is often how growth works.<\/p>\n

The edge of doubt is often the doorway of transformation.<\/p>\n

If God has placed the desire to grow in your heart, do not dismiss it too quickly.<\/p>\n

Sit with it.
\nPray over it.
\nLearn within it.<\/p>\n

Because the next chapter of your story may be waiting on the other side of a step that feels small today.<\/p>\n
